Biography/Artist’s Statement
I have been building furniture and related woodwork for over 35 years. I’ve worked with some of Maine’s finest craftspeople and consider myself truly fortunate to have the experience, knowledge and skill to build beautiful furniture and sculpture. I work extensively with hand tools. Most of my work involves the time honored practice of joinery and I continue that thread as a large part of my craft. Because of this focus, most of my pieces are constructed with various forms of joinery, including hand-cut dovetail joints for all drawer and case work, mortise and tenon joints for all doors and trestle tables, wedged tenons for chair and stool construction.
I work by myself to produce hand made pieces of furniture for the home and office. Examples of my work are found in offices and homes throughout the country - from law offices in the nations’ capital to the Governor’s Mansion in the State of Maine. I have had one-man exhibitions of my work at Tiffany’s in Boston, at the New York Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York City and elsewhere throughout the Northeast.
